About MetroCast Community Access


Our mission is to promote diverse programming on MetroCast Community Access. Community Access is comprised of public, educational and governmental access, and is available to anyone in the Metrocast franchise area age 18 years or older who has interest in learning production of a television program to be shown on MetroCast Community Access channels. All shows must be in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Metrocast Community Access facility, located at 61 Myrock Avenue, Waterford, Connecticut, consists of 650 feet studio complete with three Sony digital cameras, six microphones and a control room with recording, audio and camera switching capabilities. The facilities are available for live or taped programs to be shown on the community access channels.

The fundamental purpose of MetroCast Community Access is to enhance a sense of community among residents, providing for the dissemination of diverse views and a marketplace of ideas and information among the towns within the MetroCast Communications franchise.

MetroCast Communications franchise area includes the towns of New London, Waterford, Montville, East Lyme, Sterling, Griswold, Killingly, Plainfield, and Putnam.

To be an access user with us you must:

  • Be a resident of MetroCast Communications franchise area.
  • Be at least 18 years of age, or, accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Complete MetroCast Access personalized training course.
  • Complete a Metrocast Access user's agreement form.


Volunteer!

Be apart of your Community Access Channel. We are always looking for energetic, motivated individuals to volunteer. Our volunteers are trained in all areas of production and equipment.


Meet our Staff

Mary Jane Rickard
Access Director

Mary has over 20 years experience in the cable industry. During Mary Jane's career in the industry as a producer, she was presented with the Prestigeous Cable ACE Award. Mary Jane is dedicated to the field of Community access, she continually researches changes in state regulations. She works very hard so that all shows comply with the most up-to-date regulations. She is committed in making the Metrocast Community Access department one of the best in the state.

Joe Page
Community Access Coordinator

Joe has over 12 years experience in Community Access. Joe is very detailed orientated. His hobbies include photography, DJ Lighting, and horticulture. Our productions benefit from his knowledge in policy, and department goals. His critical thinking, and attention to detail is a valued asset to our department as well as a resource for our producers.

Reggie LeHouillier
Community Access Coordinator

Reggie joined our team in 2002 as a Community Access Coordinator. He comes to our department with years of experience from the interior design field. His creativity and eye for design help our producers achieve the "look" they envision for their production.
